The 3101 system can also be used to help meet objective and subjective NVH performance targets; characterise steering system sensitivity and performance; experimentally validate EPS functionality; and achieve other steering system performance goals throughout the warranty life of the vehicle. Typical non-hydraulic SMTS turnkey systems from MB Dynamics may include an electrically and acoustically quiet rack and pinion load simulator, capable of Simulate tie rod forces up to 25 kN and strokes from 20 mm peak to 250 mm peak.

The 3101 provides an acoustically and electrically quiet driver simulator for inputting and controlling steering wheel position, speed and/or torque values from 10 Nm to 150 Nm for the steering column and I-axis. The SMTS has a variety of on-board hardware and software features that help to minimise the notch effect, torque and force fluctuations associated with the inter-pole passage of the EPS motor. The addition of the Quiet System component allows for better troubleshooting, identification, diagnosis and resolution of the root causes of noise and other performance issues commonly found in EPS, EPHS, EPAS, MDPS and HPS steering systems.
