SCXI-1100 controllers are programmed using LabVIEW system design software, enabling engineers and scientists to take full advantage of improved hardware performance using a single graphical development environment.LabVIEW 2013 support for the NI Linux RTOS gives developers access to a rich set of community repositories and applications to enhance their control and monitoring systems. LabVIEW 2013 also offers expanded connectivity options, including improved Web service creation and secure, industry-standard WebDAV browser-based file management. Optionally, routers and modules for LTE mobile wireless networks, the Internet, or serial point-to-point links can be connected to the new communication module.

The SCXI-1100 has the following features:
