The EtherGuard L3 supports the certificate-based 802.1X port authentication protocol, which simplifies the device authentication inherent in network M2M communications. When installed on endpoint devices that do not have built-in security, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), ATMs, or card printers, the EtherGuard L3 authenticates and verifies all traffic to ensure that information is reliably transmitted and cannot be altered.
