The IC698CPE030 provides impenetrable point-to-point or point-to-multipoint data communication security at the network layer. Using proprietary DarkNode® technology, EtherGuard L3 extends network security over the Internet to provide a more scalable network that adds value to end-device high-speed encryption. The EtherGuard L3 supports the certificate-based 802.1X port authentication protocol, which simplifies the device authentication inherent in network M2M communications. When installed on endpoint devices that do not have built-in security, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), ATMs, or card printers, the EtherGuard L3 authenticates and verifies all traffic to ensure that information is reliably transmitted and cannot be altered.

The IC698CPE030 provides NICs, configuration software, development libraries and OPC data servers in a complete package for successful, cost-effective implementation of control applications. These cards are ideal for robot builders, complex machine builders and system integrators looking to switch from dedicated DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to PC-based systems. The system fulfils the extensive connectivity requirements of both traditional and newer Ethernet fieldbus protocols. The cards can act as controllers or devices on the network, as the protocols can operate in both master and slave modes. The system supports up to eight cards plugged into a single PC and runs on a variety of operating systems, including the latest versions of Windows (XP, 7, 8) as well as real-time operating systems (Linux, VxWorks, QNX and IntervalZero RTX).
