The 1756-TBNH offers Gigabit bandwidth, so it can provide solutions for data-intensive applications in Industry 4.0. In addition, it offers Ethernet-based I/O, safety and motion control integration over a single cable. The communication provides control while processing non-control related data such as quality and traceability information. This is further aided by a simple communication control model and a standard Ethernet physical layer with additional diagnostics. The module also integrates an ARM Cortex-M4 processor. The idea is that it can be a key component of the solution and not just an accessory that handles communication.

The 1756-TBNH controller also provides transmission capabilities. The controller includes algorithms designed to maximise overall system efficiency and adjust the operation of individual microturbines to align with their predicted scheduled service dates. The controller provides secure remote communication and can be customised to integrate with site-specific balance-of-plant equipment. A self-healing Ethernet ring eliminates single points of failure in the control network, thereby increasing microturbine reliability.
