The 1402-LS51 supports cloud computing, which allows overview of the entire control environment from any device and simultaneous deployment of compiled application updates or device software to one or more of the same devices. Cloud computing also supports restarting the controller after a device change.CODESYS Automation Server uses true object-oriented programming, integrates additional tools for system software development, and allows easy reuse of source code. In this way CODESYS creates a link between the concepts of IT systems and automation tools.

The 1402-LS51 with WLAN, BLE and LTE connectivity as well as an additional Ethernet interface MICA Wireless is the solution for many projects in the industrial and transport sector, for example:
As a wired-to-wireless gateway for collecting maintenance data from the PLC and sending the relevant events to the machine builder or maintenance service;
as a processing node for RFID readers connected via WLAN. When used in this way, many RFID readers send data to MICA Wireless, which evaluates the tags and feeds them into the corporate network via Ethernet;
Remote systems are monitored over Ethernet and data is transmitted globally in compressed format over LTE as required;
as BLE to Ethernet gateways or railway embankment applications, where Ethernet-enabled PLCs and RFID readers are also increasingly being used.
