The PQV80020041 provides a general purpose Ethernet interface. The inputs, and more importantly their messages, are directly associated with METSO’s Proficy HMI/SCADA -CIMPLICITY 8.0 discrete manufacturing software package. This architecture provides the power and flexibility of a central server-based configuration. By using a central server configuration over Ethernet, manufacturers can eliminate PLCs and simplify the architecture for production support tasks. This simpler architecture provides users with greater flexibility and significantly reduces the time required for activities such as line balancing and system modifications. The units all have three discrete inputs, three discrete outputs, three coloured lights, a pushbutton, a horn and a serial port. Each of these data points is mapped directly into CIMPLICITY.
