IOP320

The IOP320 adds three high-power versions rated at 21.5 to 33.5A continuous output current. The new drives extend Powerlink’s significant system building benefits to a wider range of continuous and heavy-duty applications, including printing, paper, converting, textile, plastics and steel production. The three-phase AC drive family, called MotiFlex e100, is now available in eight power output options from 1.5 to 33.5A. The drives all have a local capacitor bank, which typically eliminates the need for an external braking resistor – as the total capacitance of the system is sufficient to store energy without reaching overvoltage limits. Unlike traditional shared DC bus systems, Motiflex drives do not require a separate power supply unit. Instead, the AC-DC converter stage in each drive is capable of powering not only itself, but also drives or combinations of drives with the same total rating.

The IOP320 delivers significant performance improvements while simplifying control architecture and reducing costs. The drive’s high degree of modularity combined with novel design features offers users significant cost-saving potential. The drives can be used in both centralised control and distributed “smart drive” scenarios, in both cases with significant savings in the electrical components typically required. Compatibility with the Ethernet Powerlink protocol offers great flexibility in the construction of electrical systems. Each drive is equipped with an Ethernet hub, allowing systems to be built using a simple daisy-chain connection scheme. The high-speed and deterministic Ethernet Powerlink network runs at 100 Mbits/sec, greatly reducing cabling and the cost of building large multi-axis systems.
