The hybrid protocol stack of the 5302-MBP-MCM4 is based on G3-PLC, IEEE 802.15.4, 6LowPAN and IPv6 open standards. By embedding support for RF Mesh at the physical (PHY) and data link layers, the ST8500 combines the benefits of powerline and wireless mesh networks for communication between smart nodes and data collectors. Unlike simple point-to-point links, hybrid mesh networks interconnect nodes extensively to improve reliability, enhance fault-tolerant connectivity, and extend communication distances.

The 5302-MBP-MCM4 provides a wide range of functionality for real-time data values, system parameters, and configuration settings for virtually any software or system used for real-time plant operation, including:
