ProSoft PLX35-NB2

The ProSoft PLX35-NB2 has a USB A port in order to connect locally to the device. This port allows the user to easily configure, characterize, and diagnose the device system. The mass flow readings from the transmitter are typically used to perform real-time control, while an AMS or LIMS receives and stores historical measurements and tracks totals, calibration, and diagnostic information. Plant personnel use this information to reduce downtime, lower maintenance costs, improve safety and make other operational decisions and improvements. These types of flowmeter components are well suited for process plants that are challenged to meet environmental, social, and governance goals because they support efforts to reduce energy intensity, minimize emissions, and improve safety. Data from Coriolis mass flow meter transmitters is critical to delivering these and other benefits, but in some existing applications, adapting older mass flow meters to meet these goals can be challenging.

The ProSoft PLX35-NB2 typically has an outdated local operator interface that performs the same as the original design, but without the latest features. For example, older transmitters may use a two-button interface, which can make operator interaction difficult and time-consuming. Many of these interfaces do not have backlit displays, which makes configuring the device at night cumbersome. In addition to local operator interface issues, connecting to older transmitters can be difficult, often requiring the use of traditional physical connections, such as RS-485. Older transmitters often don’t offer intelligent diagnostic tools, making troubleshooting a cumbersome process and a burden on plant personnel. Transmitters are an improvement over traditional electronics. The local operator interface is fully configurable through the display and is fully backlit, providing clear visibility even at night or in poor ambient light. This display is controlled using four capacitive touch buttons, making user navigation faster and easier than older two-button models.
